So much to learn - so little time to sift through the research. I use the KISS method. No fluff and bull here. Just straight talking to get you on track.

What is a landing page?

Just as a golfer has one aim - to sink a hole in one - so it is with a landing page on the internet.

The one main objective, without the distractions of a normal webpage, is to get the reader to do one of two things: firstly, give enough key information for the reader to click on through to perhaps your shopping cart or paypal button; and secondly, to generate leads and build an email list via a free giveaway. eg download this free e-book, or sign up for the newsletter.

A landing page can be any page that someone lands on after clicking on a link. They are stand-alone web pages that seek to funnel all traffic to a specific action.  There are none of the usual distractions of a webpage. No links. No menu bars. Nothing to confuse.

As the landing page should be designed with an advertising campaign in mind, it is advisable that you set yourself up with an Autoresponder like Mailchimp, Aweber or GetResponse.  Some of these apps are free until you reach a certain number of subscribers, usually about 1,000.

Here is an example of a landing page:
